Adolescent Substance Use Outpatient Treatment Services include drug and alcohol screening and assessments, individual counseling, family counseling, groups and home visits for adolescents 13-18 years who meet the diagnosis [IG1] of chemical dependency/use[IG2] .

During the initial intake assessment, a treatment plan is established in collaboration with youth and their guardians. Treatment plans include individual counseling, group therapy, family education[IG3] , communication skills, conflict resolution, fair fighting, refusal skills, relapse prevention and home visits.

[IG1]How do people meet the diagnosis?

[IG2]I think whole issue of whether to call it substance use over chemical dependency depends on whether it’s a medical term for the program or not – much like Jeremy didn’t want to use chemical dependency. Whatever the decision, we should just be consistent throughout. If they decide on substance use, please make sure it’s “use” not “abuse” – this is David’s preference in terms of language. If the program’s name actually uses the term “use” then, just hold off until I get back for a final deliberation.

[IG3]Highlighted areas sound redundant, maybe try to differentiate somehow
