The Central Texas African American Family Support Conference (CTAAFSC)
The CTAAFSC is hosted and sponsored by the ATCIC, New Milestones Foundation and other community partners to strengthen family and individual awareness of available healthcare services — behavioral and physical — through culturally sensitive education, supports and partnerships. It also works to reduce stigma and eliminate health disparities. The CTAAFSC is a free, yearly public event that provides information and educational opportunities to individuals who use ATCIC’s services, their families and the community.The CTAAFSC is planned and organized by a volunteer Planning Committee that meets every other month on the third Wednesday at the ATCIC Administration Building (1430 Collier St.). Consumer Council
ATCIC is committed to fostering partnerships with a diverse cross section of individuals with mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities. The Council provides a formal mechanism that prepares and educates consumers for meaningful roles in the planning, implementation and review of policies and programs and to becoming effective community advocates. Members also have an opportunity to learn more about their illness, treatment, and recovery. Individuals receiving services at ATCIC are encouraged to attend meetings and become a member of the Council, however, anyone can attend. The Consumer Council meets every second Tuesday of the month from 12:30-2:30pm at 1430 Collier St. For more information click here or contact the ATCIC Consumer Liaison at consumerliason@atcic.org or 512-440-4058.
Indicator Improvement Initiative (III)
The Indicator Improvement Initiative (III) is a model for system change. The Committee’s goal is to create community action plans around complex multi-factorial and cross-agency issues that impact individuals with behavioral health disorders. To learn more visit, indicatorinitiative.org/.
New Milestones Foundation (NMF)
New Milestones Foundation is a functionally integrated 509 (a) (3) Type (III) supporting organization founded in 1983. Its purpose is to expand awareness, eliminate stigma and help support the programs and population served by ATCIC. NMF has taken on several important functions such as overseeing the management of housing facilities for ATCIC’s consumers and now currently working towards a $500,000 capital campaign for crisis psychiatric services. Planning and Network Advisory Committee (PNAC)
The PNAC is a Trustee appointed advisory volunteer committee and is comprised of volunteers who are consumers, family members, providers, and interested citizens. PNAC is charged with providing feedback and support to ATCIC policies and services. Members meet each month to receive information on current issues and policies including network evaluation and development, from which they create and present recommendations to the Trustees. VOICE Committee
The Voice Committee protects, promotes and advocates for the health, safety, welfare and legal and human rights for individuals receiving services at ATCIC through investigations. The committee also serves as a resource and advisor to ATCIC’s Executive Director and makes recommendations on consumer rights and consumer advocacy issues. Additional functions include participating on ATCIC’s Human Rights and Appeals Committees. For more information, call 512-445-7718 and a Voice member will return the call within 48 hours.
