Next Step provides short-term psychiatric respite services for adults residing in Travis County who are recovering from a psychiatric crisis. Services are comprised of two phases. Phase I provides short-term residential services, while Phase II focuses on community-based services that help individuals transition into the community.

Next Step is a voluntary program designed to assist individuals address the needs that precipitated admission to the program. Individuals participate as a member of the recovery team and develop a recovery plan tailored to develop coping skills and address the circumstances of the immediate crisis.

Next Step also provides case management, and psychosocial rehabilitative skills training to further stabilize the individual’s psychiatric condition and enhance recovery.

Adults recovering from a psychiatric crisis who may be experiencing housing instability.
