Family Peer Support Groups (IDD)

Intellectual and developmental disabilities place a tremendous burden on individuals and families, often made worse by the isolation and sense of helplessness they create.Family peer support groups are designed to help families cope and manage life with a loved one who may live with mental illness by offering assistance opportunities.

There are many support and educational groups available. Below is a complete listing of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities support groups for your reference. If you would like to have your support group listed, please e-mail SupportGroups@atcic.org.

ATCIC/NAMI Austin Family Support Group

For family members of persons with a mental illness.

2nd Monday of each month, 7 - 9 PM

Family Support Cooperative

Education and Support for parents and families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, chronic illnesses and/or mental health issues. Free, light supper is provided and free childcare is available for up to 20 children, ages 5-12.
