Services

Here’s How it Works

What to Expect

  1. Start by calling the 24/7 Hotline at 512-472-HELP (4357)
  2. By calling the hotline, you will be asked to schedule an appointment for an initial assessment to determine if you qualify for services (based on a Determination of Mental Retardation or DMR)
  3. Your needs will be determined at this initial assessment, which is conducted by a Licensed Professional and takes 2-4 hours on average to complete
  4. You will also be required to complete a financial assessment
  5. You will receive an explanation of all available programs and services
  6. You will be assigned a service coordinator who will help you with our services

Requirements

  • You must be seeking services
  • Have a legal guardian present if you are 17 years or younger
  • Have charts and information on previous mental health or relevant physical assessments if applicable
  • Provide proof of address (utility bill, Texas Identification)
  • Provide proof of insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, and/or Private)
  • Provide proof of income (tax returns, recent pay stubs, social security award letter)

  • Coordination of services to assist you
  • Returning phone calls within one business day

Complaints

If you are unsatisfied with any services at ATCIC, please voice your concerns – you have the right to be heard! An ATCIC representative will work with you and your service provider to resolve your complaint. First, speak with your service coordinator. If they are not able to address your concerns and/or you still have concerns, call:

ATCIC Consumer Rights Officer
(512) 440-4086

The VOICE Committee
(512) 445-7718

Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Director
(512) 445-7772

Reconsiderations

If services you request are reduced, denied or terminated, you have the right to ask for a review of that decision. Your service coordinator can help your request a reconsideration review. Reconsideration requests can also be made through ATCIC's Consumer Rights Officer at (512) 440-4086.

A staff person (not involved in the original decision to reduce, deny or terminate services) will review your request and provide you with a written notification of the decision.
