Q: Where is training held?

A: Classes are taught at the Integral Care Large Training Room (across from the Collier Street Administration Building). The address is: Integral Care Large Training Room 1700 South Lamar Building # 1, Suite 102 Austin, Texas 78704 You must park and enter from the rear of the building.

Q: I currently (or recently) worked for Austin State Hospital, Austin State School or other State School/Hospital. Will you accept their training?

A: Yes. Ask their Human Resource Development office to fax or mail a copy of your “official” training record to Integral Care’s Human Resource office.

Q: Do I have to complete CPR training through Integral Care?

A: CPR training is required; however, you may take classes with any of the other organizations listed below. Upon completion, mail or fax a copy of your card(s), both front and back, to the Human Resource Development Coordinator. This individual will document and notify the Contract Manager of your completion.

Q: How long is the CPR certification period?

A: American Red Cross and American Heart Association are the two sources that provide CPR certification at any location you may choose. While the certification process is the same, their length of certification is different. American Red Cross requires renewal annually, and American Heart Association requires renewal every two (2) years. Integral Care training is through American Red Cross.

Q: Do I have to take Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Integral Care?

A: No, Integral Care will accept Satori (SAMA) in place of Integral Care’s Non-violent Crisis Intervention courses. Upon completion, please provide documentation of this training to the Human Resource Development Coordinator.

Q: Do I have to complete all the required training before I can serve Consumers?

A: You must complete Confidentiality Training; Consumer Rights, Abuse, Neglect Training, and Infection Control Training prior to your contract being executed. Other required training such as CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training must be completed within 60 from the effective date of your contract. Failure to complete these trainings within 60 days from the effective date of your contract could result in your contract being terminated.

Q: Will I get paid for attending the required training?

A: No.

Q: How much does it cost to attend classes?

A: The only class that you are required to pay a fee for is CPR Training, and the fee is $25.00. Payment is due the day of the class. Do not mail checks or cash.

Q: Will I be reimbursed for the cost?

A: No.

Q: What if I registered for a class and cannot attend?

A: If you need to transfer or cancel a class, please let us know at least two (2) full working days in advance so we may fill your space. Please be sure to call or e-mail during business hours (Mon. through Fri., 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding holidays.) We make every effort to accommodate your request, but transfers may not be possible when requested.

Q: Can I take a class if I have a medical condition or special educational need?

A: We will work with you to accommodate medical conditions or disabilities as much as possible, although certification requirements vary among classes. For information, contact the Professional Training Office at (512) 440-4025, or by e-mail training@atcic.org.

Q: How actively must I participate in class?

A: You’ll learn more and have more fun by participating as much as possible. Most classes include videos, group discussion and skills practice that require you to participate in hands-on activities. Since some of the skills take place on the floor, please wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. To receive certification, you must attend the entire class session(s) and pass both skills and written testing.

Q: What if I am late to class?

A: Since the core of most programs is taught at the beginning of class, you won’t want to miss a minute of class time. In order to maximize training time, session starting times are firm. Late arrivals are admitted at the discretion of the instructor, but tardiness may affect certification. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of class or miss a scheduled class, you will need to re-register.

Q: Can lost certificates be replaced?

A: We can send you a replacement CPR card for any course taught by Integral Care as long as your certification is still valid. Simply provide the course name and completion date when making your request. All requests must be submitted in writing only and must be addressed to the Human Resources Development Coordinator, via e-mail, fax or letter. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Note there is an $8.00 certificate replacement fee.
