How the process works:

To process the complaint, the Ombudsman

  • clarifies the complaint issue with the complainant, 
  • responds to and answers complaints whenever possible in an effort to resolve the complaint immediately, 
  • follows up with staff members to resolve the complaint, or 
  • refers the complaint to a staff member who provides a written response to the Ombudsman.

Complaints processed at the Unit level

  • will clarify the complaint issue with the complainant,
  • explain the role and option of using the Ombudsman
  • respond to and answer complaint expediently
  • follow up with staff involved in complaint to resolve the issue
  • document information on the complaint resolution form is forwarded when complete to the Ombudsman
  • refer to the Ombudsman when unable to resolve
